Nick Wilde Item Engine: A Coconut Deck That Never Runs Out of Items
Friday, October 23, 2026
Banish four items. Gain four lore. Then get them all back and do it again. Welcome to the very first episode of The Coconut Kitchen, our new series where we cook up decks for Coconut, Disney Lorcana's official multiplayer format.
Quick refresher: in Coconut you pick three inks and one leader. You run four copies of your leader, everything else is singleton, and the first player to 25 lore wins. Today's recipe is Nick Wilde, Wily Fox in Sapphire, Ruby and Emerald. We're calling it Gadgets and Gizmos. It's a singleton item engine that turns Pawpsicles and gadgets into lore, rebuys everything, and can win out of nowhere.
You can find the full decklist on theinkcast.com.
Today's Special: The Nick Wilde Coconut
Once per turn, the coconut ability lets you banish four of your items to gain four lore. No questing, no challenging, no exerting, and that lore can't be blocked. Do the math: about six activations gets you to 25 with nothing else. Everything else in the deck exists to help you do that.
The big perk is that this coconut lets you run four Pawpsicles, breaking the singleton rule. Nick himself is a four-cost, two-lore character who returns a Pawpsicle from your discard when played. The coconut throws your Pawpsicles away, and Nick picks them back up.
The Ingredients
- 4 Nick Wilde + 4 Pawpsicle: the heart of the deck.
- 19 more items: every single one, even the removal, is a lore battery for the coconut.
- Draw engines: Maurice's Workshop, Ariel, Hiram and Scrooge all draw off your items.
- Ramp: Belle, Sail the Azurite Sea, Fishbone Quill, Heart of Te Fiti.
- Cleanup: Be Prepared, Under the Sea, Lady Tremaine, Let It Go, Hades and more.
Heads up: the list has 23 uninkable cards. That's why Hidden Inkcaster and Madam Mim are in here, since both make every card in your hand count as inkable.
The Four Signature Recipes
Recipe #1: The Hustle
The core loop. Use a Pawpsicle plus three other items for the coconut and gain four lore. Then play Nick to return a Pawpsicle, play Tamatoa, Happy as a Clam to return two more items, quest, replay everything for free, and banish four again. That's eight lore out of nowhere. No Tamatoa? Treasures Untold, Get Out, Merlin's Carpetbag and Gyro Gearloose all keep items flowing, and Do It Again or Lady Tremaine can rebuy Treasures Untold.
Recipe #2: Free Scrooge, Free Lore
Exert four items to play Scrooge McDuck, Resourceful Miser for free, dig for another item, then banish those same four for lore. Add Maurice's Workshop (a card per item for one ink) and the new Ariel from Hyperia City, who draws whenever you play an item that doesn't share a name with another item. In singleton, that's almost every item. Aurora, Lore Guardian gives your items Ward against targeted removal.
Recipe #3: Ink Is Lore
Gramma Tala gains you a lore whenever a card goes to your inkwell. Stack her with Belle's extra ink, Fishbone Quill, Heart of Te Fiti and Sail the Azurite Sea, and you're gaining multiple lore a turn without questing. Once you hit 10 ink, Belle quests for five.
Recipe #4: Shiny Things
Tamatoa, So Shiny gets a lore for each item you control; with six items out he's a seven-lore quester. The real trick is Lucky Dime: exert it to gain lore equal to another character's lore, even the turn Tamatoa comes down. Ariel scales the same way, so the Dime can target her too. That's a one-turn win your opponents can barely interact with.
Pantry Staples (Can't Cut)
- Nick Wilde and Pawpsicle (if you're not playing these, you're not playing this deck)
- Tamatoa, Happy as a Clam; Tamatoa, So Shiny; Treasures Untold; Get Out; Merlin's Carpetbag
- Scrooge McDuck, Maurice's Workshop, Ariel, Collector of Oddities, Aurora, Lore Guardian
- Hidden Inkcaster and Madam Mim for fixing
- Your reset button: board wipes hit characters, not the items that win you the game
The rule: if it makes items, brings items back, or turns items into cards or lore, it stays.
Substitutions
Merryweather and Scuttle are big Ward bodies, great against the heavy targeted removal in multiplayer, but swappable; just replace them with something inkable. Other flex slots include Prince John's Mirror, Diablo, Clarabelle, Kuzco, Sword of Truth, The Plank and Poisoned Apple. If you cut an item, put in another item; the count is already about right, and even a bad item powers the coconut.
Swap ideas from the video:
- Sword of Truth → Ratigan's Marvelous Trap: at a four-player table, that's six lore off the board.
- Spyglass Hat: early ink that helps the uninkable problem and triggers Gramma Tala.
- Prince John's Mirror → Unconventional Tool: the Mirror is powerful but mean, and will make enemies on turn three.
- Maurice's Machine: returns a cheap item, like a Pawpsicle, when banished.
- Microbots: cheap, inkable, and you can run as many as you want (watch the Ariel interaction). Going over 60 is legal, but it dilutes your Nick and Pawpsicle draws.
Feeding a Full Table
Multiplayer rewards cards that hit everyone. A Pirate's Life is an eight-lore swing at four players. Be King Undisputed makes every opponent banish a character, and Lady Tremaine can bring it back. Ebenezer Scrooge drains each opponent and can draw up to three cards per quest. Lady Tremaine, Wicked Stepmother can rebuy Be Prepared and then be shifted into Imperious Queen.
Archenemy warning: four-lore jumps get noticed. Let someone else look like the threat, keep your board looking like harmless items, watch for item hate, and save your sweepers for when everyone has a full board. Table politics matter.
Cook Time: Game Plan and Mulligans
- Turn 1: Pawpsicle.
- Turn 2: a cheap item or Sail the Azurite Sea for ramp.
- Turn 3: Fishbone Quill, Heart of Te Fiti, Maurice's Workshop, or Hiram to start drawing.
- Turns 4-5: Nick Wilde to rebuy Pawpsicles, maybe a free Scrooge.
- Then: banish four items every turn, recur them, and close with Tamatoa or Ariel plus Lucky Dime.
Mulligan hands full of six-plus drops and uninkables, especially without Hidden Inkcaster or Madam Mim. Always identify two cards you're happy to ink and never see again; in singleton, once it's inked, it's gone.
What It Costs
The normal build runs about $52. Fully blinged out with the priciest versions of every card? About $2,933.
